Chances are, if you have any interest in horror whatsoever, you’ll have heard of Terrifier 2. The film skyrocketed in popularity after successfully making cinemagoers lose their dinner due to its extreme gore. Can’t say that’s exactly a selling point in my eyes, but it is to some (and those people are far braver than me).

Now, as pointed out by @DiscussingFilm on Twitter, the movie has surpassed $10 million at the worldwide box office. Given that it had a $250,000 budget…yeah, that’s pretty impressive.

Take a look at the trailer for Terrifier 2 right here.

According to Box Office Mojo, the vast majority of revenue has come from the domestic box office (North America) - almost $9.8 million. Only $238,000 is from the international box office figures, but keep in mind that here in the UK, for example, the film is only available to watch via Prime Video as it was considered “too extreme” for the cinema. If streaming figures were counted in this total, it’d probably be way higher.

In case you were unaware, last week, horror news site and distributor of Terrifier 2, Bloody Disgusting, announced that they’ve now submitted the movie for Oscar consideration. They don’t actually expect it to win anything, but said that "thought of having members of the Academy endure an extreme unrated horror movie that they would otherwise consider beneath them” is “just too hilarious of an opportunity to pass up”.

Meanwhile, assuming you’ve fully recovered from watching the most recent one, viewers can prepare themselves for a third, and potentially even fourth Terrifier film. Director Damien Leone said that there were too many questions left unanswered in 2, and teased: “I pretty much have the entire treatment ready for Part 3, but it’s getting so big that it could potentially split into a Part 4 because I wouldn’t want to make another [two] hour 20 minute movie.” That’s a lot of scary stuff planned.
