Without question, whether you like it or not, Bethesda’s Starfield is one of the most highly anticipated games in recent years.

In Starfield, players can explore the galaxy making new discoveries, meet interesting NPCS, have intergalactic space battles and of course, partake in a variety of missions. For the most part, it’s a game that has been very well-received by critics and fans alike. That being said, someone’s treasure is another person's trash and variety is the spice of life. After all, the world would be a very dull place if we shared the same views on everything.

On Metacritic, Starfield has garnered scores of 83 from critics and 6.7 from users on Xbox Series X|S. What’s more, on OpenCritic, Starfield has an average score of 86 with 85% recommending the game to the community. As for the PC platform Steam, the sci-fi RPG has recently earned ‘mixed’ reviews from fans. So it’s fair to say, that Starfield might be considered the best or worst game ever, depending on who you ask.

On Reddit, user bogeyj asked: “Is Starfield in your top three favourite Bethesda games?” and the thread was certainly a mixed bag of opinions. “It has the potential to be. I love the game but it definitely has room to grow,” replied Drav_The_Dragon. “No, it's actually one of Bethesda's worst titles,” said Cultural-Mushroom-83.

“I love this game, but one of my criticisms is that the planets all look kind of boring and like they're just lightly recoloured shades of Earth,” adds jporter313. “I've enjoyed Starfield, it has a ton of potential. But Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4 were far more impactful gaming experiences for me,” Own_Figure1429 exclaimed.

In our review of Starfield, we scored it a 10/10 and said: “Bethesda has created a universe that, despite its vast scale, maintains interest and an impressive attention to detail throughout. The journey you embark on will dazzle you, and I have no doubt that players will be gripped for months, perhaps even years to come. Here is a playground where you can be whoever you want to be. I simply cannot stop thinking about Starfield and the wondrous secrets it still holds. Bethesda, I have one word: bravo.”

Starfield is out now on PC and Xbox Series X|S. It is also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost.
