Stardew Valley Meets Life is Strange in Charming 2026 Release

A beautiful coming-of-age story

It’s one of the biggest events in the cosy gaming calendar; Wholesome Snack 2025 has now drawn to a close, delivering some exciting game reveals and updates.

Wholesome Snack is, of course, put together by the team at Wholesome Games which has ventured into the publishing space in recent years.

One of the titles that falls under the Wholesome Games Presents publishing umbrella is Fishbowl by imissmyfriends.studio, a two-person indie team based in India.

Fishbowl may boast a pixel art style similar to that which you’ll find in Stardew Valley, but as a coming of age story, it’s perhaps far more tonally comparable to the beloved Life is Strange franchise.

This isn’t the first we’re hearing of Fishbowl, but we do now have a release month for this exciting 2026 release.

Launching in April

Fishbowl is officially due to launch on PC via Steam and PlayStation 5 in April 2026, so there are just a few months to go.

The game follows Alo, a young woman who travels to a new city, navigating grief and heartbreak as she makes new friends and rediscovers her past; it sounds absolutely delightful.

“Fishbowl is a narrative game about dreams, grief, and hope. Rediscover your memories and find your way into the present in this intimate experience where slice-of-life meets surreal,” a press release reads.

“Drowning in feelings of grief, isolation, and the responsibilities of adulthood, Alo receives an unlikely lifeline in the form of a magical talking fish from her childhood. With Paplet as her companion, Alo unravels the threads of her past, giving way to a new future.”

So you can likely see where the title of Fishbowl comes into play.

As for gameplay, Alo will discover meaning through the completion of everyday tasks and activities.

In the game’s trailer, for example, there’s a puzzle segment where Alo is seemingly trying to fit her belongings into a box.

Elsewhere, we see Alo making coffee and watering plants. Our protagonist works as a video editor and it also appears there’s some kind of mini-game that brings that to life.

Whilst Fishbowl is said to feature different endings, none of them are considered “bad”, so you don’t have to worry about taking Alo down the wrong path.

It sounds like a charming title so if this has piqued your interest, I’m certain this small two-person team would appreciate your support in the form of a wishlist.
