Star Wars Release $1,000 Lego Death Star That’s Got People Fuming

We can see why...

Star Wars LEGO has always been pricey but the new $1000 LEGO Death Star is beyond ridiculous, and Star Wars fans are angry.

It’s not the first LEGO Star Wars Death Star we’ve seen over the years as other sets have been made featuring The Empire’s iconic superweapon, and it’s always been a premium set with a big price tag.

The newest iteration though is the first LEGO set ever to sell for $1000, and I haven’t seen anyone argue it’s worth the price yet.

Outraged fans took to a Reddit thread to share their disappointment, like one who exclaimed “$1000 and it’s only a cross-section?!? I assumed from the thumbnail image that the other side would be the exterior. I’m sorry, but what a joke.” Another added “Doesn’t look like a $1k set to me.”

One fan argued the situation is even worse knowing LEGO created a separate set, a Tie Fighter GWP, that’s designed to fit into the new Death Star.

“The worst thing about this might not even be the price or the design, but the GWP that fits into this set. Feels like DLC or a pre-order bonus for an already incredibly expensive set, which is insane.”

Finally one comment read “Lego produces their very first $1000 set and it's ... this. Yikes. You'd think they'd at least create something that could serve as the "crown jewel" of the Lego brand. Instead, it's more of a reflection of what the brand has become. It's clumsy and uninspired.”

As much as I’m a fan of Star Wars and like the occasional LEGO set, even in my wildest dreams I wouldn’t consider buying this, and it sounds like others are in agreement there.

It makes sense to not design the set to be the full Death Star, but the price for your getting doesn’t seem right.
