Star Wars fans hyped as Qui-Gon Jinn officially returns in new prequel

The legend is back

Star Wars is returning to Free Comic Book Day with new adventures from Marvel Comics, with the issue featuring Qui-Gon Jinn in a new prequel adventure.

That’s right, Free Comic Book Day is almost upon us and giving us a reason to visit our favourite comic book shop for freebies, and this year we’ll be getting some Star Wars stories.

If you've been watching Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, you need to see our interview with Jude Law

The new issue, which will release on 3 May 2025, will feature three separate stories from the Star Wars universe.

One will feature Qui-Gon Jinn as he teams up with fellow Jedi, Tensu Run, and hunt down a “villainous Corlis Rath.”

Tensu Run has appeared in the comics previously, during the Conquest of Regis Kor, and quickly became a thorn in the side of Darth Vader.

This will be the first appearance of Rath and little is known about them, including who they work for, if anyone.

In fact, the whole story is shrouded in secrecy, and we don’t know anything about it beyond a sentence describing the short story.

Also included in the issue will be a story about Luke Skywalker facing off against a band of pirates.

While the third story visits with Kylo Ren and a mysterious connection to another person called Vanee.

Fans of the prequels will be overjoyed to see their favourite long-haired boy make a comeback.

Qui-Gon Jinn has long been a fan-favourite and while Liam Neeson is unlikely to return as the Jedi Master in any long-running appearance, we do get these delightful little stories occasionally.

The issue will be written by Alex Segura, Charles Soule, and Marc Guggenheim, with art by Phil Noto, Stefano Raffaele, and Madibek Musabekov.

Hopefully, we’ll find out more about this story and the others on the lead up to publication, which takes place the day before Star Wars day.
