The first episode of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 is live, and out now, however it’s not an official product.

Instead, this episode is a mod for the second game of the series, that expands on the stories of the Star Wars universe, given long-time fans something new to sink their teeth into.

One day this remake will see the light of day, we hope

Knights of the Old Republic has long been a franchise laying dormant, much to the chagrin of fans.

The original two games are lauded as some of the best RPGs ever made, and two amazing stories from the Star Wars franchise.

Rather than wait for the powers that be to make another game, a team of modders has created this new entry in the series, continuing the story of Revan and the Jedi Order.

Set eight years after the events of the second game, Revenge of Revan will have players attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, and quell the dark side of the force.

This will be a standalone story, however you can go into it following through on the choices you made in the previous two games, and it will feature many familiar characters.

Perhaps the best feature of the mod, is the option to choose between two versions of the game - canon and non-canon.

The latter will allow you to focus on creating the story as you play and see fit, while the former will follow the events of the novels which led into the MMO, The Old Republic.

The endings to the mod will be altered, depending on which option you chose, so it allows for some future replayability.

Clocking in around three hours, it’s a short adventure, ideal for a little dose of Star Wars wonder.

We’re still waiting on news of the official remake of the first game, but until then, this mod will do nicely.
