Star Wars Galactic Racer is out now, allowing thousands of fans to dive into the challenging story mode.
As a roguelite, there’s a lot of potential for fun builds that suit your playstyle, but if you’re finding the competition to be too difficult, you can find a busted combination below that’ll keep you in the lead.
How to take advantage of Star Wars Galactic Racer’s Auto Pilot for real speed
Star Wars Galactic Racer’s pace is on another level compared to other racing games. Your speeders can move at breakneck speed, but they’re incredibly fragile. Take a corner wrong and you’ll explode into a fiery ball of molten metal, which could cost you the race if you can’t catch up.
For a helping hand, here’s a formula that greatly helped me during my final run of the story mode. There’s a tiny bit of luck involved, but in my experience, gathering the tools needed proved to be pretty consistent.

First, you’ll want to get your hands on the Auto Pilot ability as soon as possible. You can either spend credits won through races on an ability pack, or get one from Sebulba when you make him one of your supporters after Act I.
Provided your speeder has enough energy, you hand control of your craft to the Auto Pilot at the push of a button.
The Auto Pilot is extremely talented and will expertly take the quickest routes it can whilst taking corners like a champ. Throughout several hours with the game, it only crashed twice.
Eventually it’ll give the controls back to you before having a brief cooldown, but with the same ability packs you can upgrade it so it lasts longer.

Next you’re going to want to acquire upgrades for the ramjet and/or afterburner. Anything that makes them last longer, recharge quicker or boosts their power. This part’s ultimately down to you, but I found the ramjet to be more reliable and powerful.
The Auto Pilot will activate the ramjet and afterburner whenever it has the chance, and due to its expert handling, it’ll maintain its speed around corners and hazards you might struggle with otherwise. With maxed-out upgrades, it’s absurdly powerful.
After that, you can add some finishing touches. While the Auto Pilot is taking care of the driving, you can activate other abilities like the shockwave or ion bolt to take down rival racers, and if you have the repair or cooldown ability, the Auto Pilot will use them itself when needed.
Of course, you shouldn’t rely on this strategy for the entire game. You’re not going to get better if you don’t play yourself, but for those extra challenging confrontations with Kestar Bool and your other rivals, this is an excellent safety net that’ll keep your run moving.
After reviewing Star Wars Galactic Racer, I can easily say it’s an absolute triumph, and well worth your time whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not.
I awarded the game a nine out of 10, and while the roguelite mechanics felt a little odd for a racing game, they’re ultimately one of the strongest parts of the game.
