Star Wars fans will soon be welcoming back one of their favourite Jedis in a prequel series, along with some original trilogy characters.

In case you missed it, Marvel launched a new line of Star Wars comics that have been giving plenty of iconic characters equal chance to shine, spanning the entire Star Wars timeline.

It’s even given characters from the sequel trilogy their time in the spotlight, especially Kylo Ren.

While one of the main storylines told was the Battle Of Jakku, the final battle of the intergalactic war between The Rebels and The Empire, Star Wars #1 features a story about one of the greatest Jedis to ever live, Qui-Gon Jinn.

The prequel character perished in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, a shame but a necessary death as he was too pure of a Jedi to stay in the series, when he succumbed in a battle with Darth Maul.

The story was a Comic Book Day special and featured Qui-Gon fighting alongside another Jedi Knight called Tensu Run, and is worth a read if you’re a fan of the character and/or the prequels.

Qui-Gon Jinn made his live-action return at the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, where he appeared to Obi-Wan as a ghost and presumably taught him how to become one himself.

That plot point was set up all the way back in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith, as Yoda tells Obi-Wan after Anakin’s defeat that Qui-Gon is trying to get in touch with his former padawan, so it’s funny to think we got the pay-off of that so many years later.

If they ever do another Tales Of The Jedi series, it’d be good to see Qui-Gon return in that too but for now, comic appearances like this will have to do.
