Things can move pretty fast on the world wide web and ever faster by the language of memes. It all began on 21 January when rumours spawned that Sony was set to purchase a AAA publisher. This came true when, last night, Sony announced its intended acquisition of Bungie in a $3.6billion deal, with more apparently to come. PlayStation now owns a number of major studios including Naughty Dog and Insomniac. The most shocking acquisition of course was Bungie itself, best known as the developer of the Halo franchise.

If you are a big Halo fan you will want to check out this video below of the most epic Halo wins and fails.

It's possible that this is in response to Microsoft's gigantic $70billion acquisition of publisher Activision Blizzard, even though the deal is coming under scrutiny by regulatory boards over fear of monopolisation. This means that boards are scared Microsoft will end up with a stronghold over the majority of gaming studios. However despite these uncertain times, it has lead the people of the internet to create some excellent memes. From Reddit through to Twitter the people of the internet have come together to make light of the whole situation.

Among Us developers Inner Sloth got in on the news with news of its own tasty acquisition.

Reddit user u/DragonasPersona, disappointed that PlayStation is making moves on a classically Xbox brand, has laid out their own plans for the next Halo game.

Publisher Annapurina Interactive also chimed in with its recent news of an acquisition of its own. Personally, I'm very jealous of its acquisition of the Arceus plushie with the Pokemon Legends: Arceus pre-order.

Similar in theme to people making their own version of Halo, Reddit user u/ElVaNoS7 ponders what the Halo soldiers think about the whole debacle.

They say laughter is the best medicine, and hopefully the creation of memes has helped to calm people's concerns about their favourite franchises being locked behind a platform they don't own.
