Since The Elder Scrolls VI: Skyrim was released way back in 2011, many of us have been chasing the experience ever since with the hopes that a new RPG will capture the feeling that the Bethesda title managed to give us.
Some titles have come close but it is one 2024 release which may just follow in The Elder Scrolls VI: Skyrim’s footsteps by offering us a fantastical experience with challenging combat and deep exploration.
The title in question is Kristala, first released into early access back in June 2024 but is now preparing for its 1.0 release.
Developed by Astral Clocktower Studios, Kristala is a dark fantasy ARPG where players will master the ancient magic of the Sacred Six Kristals to uncover the source of a mysterious curse.

In this thrilling, story-driven release, you will get to unleash your arcane power as you step into the role of a feline warrior (khajiit anyone?) who must do whatever it takes to stop a curse which threatens to overtake the world.
Kristala features punishing and fluid combat consisting of blocking, dodging and defecting attacks in order to utilise powerful weapon abilities and cast up to 16 spells at any one time.
As with any magic-based combat, you will need to keep an eye on your mana but worry not as engaging in melee combat will far that bar right back up so you can continue making use of your arcane abilities.
“Ailur is slowly being overcome by a dark and mysterious curse,” the official Steam description for Kristala reads.

“Use your arsenal of weapons, spells, and unique feline abilities to battle undead enemies, tortured spirits, and behemoth bosses with cunning agility and skill.”
As a feline, you will be able to use your cunning agility to navigate through the environment in unique ways and as you progress through the story, you will unlock new and inventive ways to traverse the land of Ailur.
In Kristala, you will be able to piece together the story of the land through deep exploration and even create your own custom feline protagonist, choosing everything from their fur pattern and length, starting class, initial weapon and much more.
In the lead up to Kristala’s 1.0 launch, its developers have released regular ‘dev diaries’ over on its official Youtube channel so if you wish to stay up to date with this epic ARPG, this is the perfect way to do so.

Until then, Kristala is available to play right now and is perfect for The Elder Scrolls VI: Skyrim fans looking for that new RPG kick.
