Skyrim Grandma comes out of retirement for new game

She's back!

Shirley Curry, aka Skyrim Grandma, has surprised her fans with a playthrough of a new Elder Scrolls game, despite previously saying she was retiring from YouTube.

Curry, 89, won the hearts of millions over nine years ago when she started posting videos of her playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The Skyrim community adored the steady stream of video content, and even rallied to have her featured in The Elder Scrolls VI. The team at Bethesda heard the call and announced that Curry will get her very own NPC in the game.

Eventually, her YouTube career slowed down and Curry announced that she’d be stepping away from it as she wasn’t enjoying the hobby anymore - YouTube, not playing games.

It seems that’s changed though as the star has returned with a new playthrough of a completely different game, the recently released Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

The remaster brought graphical improvements as well as several quality-of-life changes, and was instantly a hit with fans and sparked discussion for additional Bethesda remasters in the future.

As many will have probably noticed though whilst playing it for the first time, it’s a very different game compared to Skyrim.

While the two games share the same DNA, Oblivion has a slightly steeper learning curve, something Shirley Curry has learnt through her own playthrough as she gets to grips with the different style of gameplay and, of course, a brand-new map to explore.

Fortunately, the YouTube sensation has had a chat full of helpful fans giving her tips, telling her where to go and answering several questions she has about the game, such as some of the controls.

Who knows how long this new playthrough will last, but it’s just nice to see her posting videos again, but does this mean we have to call her Oblivion Grandma from now on?
