Resident Evil fans impressed by trailer for new horror

This is an Indonesian horror game? Oh, so it's going to be PROPER scary

One of the coolest survival horror games I’ve ever seen is drawing some comparisons between IT and Resident Evil, and it’s easy to see why given how incredibly unsettling the whole experience looks.

Thank you in advance to Rock Paper Shotgun's Nic Reuben for bringing this one to my attention!

Agni: Village of Calamity looks weird, terrifying, off-putting, and incredibly unique, and it’s coming to a video game console near you… at some point. Maybe.

Look I’ll be honest with you, I can’t actually find much out there about this one at the moment. It’s definitely coming to Xbox, and it’s definitely coming to Steam, but I don’t know if it’s landing on PlayStation 5, and I definitely don’t know when it’s set to actually drop.

That might have something to do with the language barrier at play here, though, because it would appear that the developer and publisher Separuh Interactive hail from Indonesia. The fact that the entire game is in Indonesian (based on the trailer) is what’s giving that away at least.

You can view that trailer below.

Over on the r/survivalhorror subreddit, fans of spooky games are already excited to get their hands on this one (whenever that might be).

“This reminded me of RE Village DLC, where the mannequins chase you,” commented user One_Competition136. “I literally had to start it like four different times because it freaked me out at the beginning so much.”

“First time I'm hearing about this, definitely will need to keep an eye on it,” replied user Slarg232. “Survival Horror fans are eating well lately.”

Gotta say, it’s cool to see a game like this go all in on the influences from its home country. I’ve seen enough Indonesian horror films in my time to say that I’m legit kinda terrified about where the plot might go already, because those folks do not mess around when it comes to their folklore.

Also, I really like the direction in the cutscenes. Those claustrophobic, tight angles make me feel uneasy already.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this one. I hope the devs take their time with it, because this could be a sleeper hit in… whatever year it eventually comes out.
