Red Dead Redemption Remake should include references to Arthur Morgan, fans agree

Fans think that the Red Dead Redemption Remake should include references to Arthur Morgan.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you may not have heard the latest rumour that’s swept through the gaming industry. Insiders claim that a remake of the original Red Dead Redemption is on the way - something I think we’d all like to see.

There have been whisperings of such a remake for several years, but those rumours intensified last week when a new rating for Red Dead Redemption appeared online. Since then, insiders have been claiming that not only is the remake real, but that it’s set to be revealed in August. Towards the end of August, we have Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. Could this be the location of the reveal? Absolutely nothing has been confirmed by Rockstar so do take all of this with a generous pinch of salt. Fans can’t help but feel excited though. An RDR remake has been heavily requested for so long. There is one addition fans would like to see in a remake though.

Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.

Reddit user jackie2567 started the debate, asking, “If Rockstar goes ahead with an RDR 1 remake, would you want them to add additional story details and references to Arthur and the events in RDR 2 or would you rather they stick with the original?” Arthur Morgan is, of course, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2 which serves as a prequel. The overwhelming answer was yes.

User AAAFate wrote, “I would prefer the game as is but with like one added side mission of sorts that has all the references and Arthur stuff. Leave the game untouched other than the added mission,” while Eddie2Ham said, “I think small added details would be nice. Just subtle references but nothing game changing. Like putting Arthur's hat on a hat rack in John's home.” Jackie2567 further added, “I think they should add more to the dialogue with Dutch, Javier and Bill too, referencing what happened. Especially with Javier. Maybe something like John says how he betrayed him and Arthur and Javier says Arthur was his family.”

DatClubbaLang96 suggested, “Maybe a mission where John comes across Mary Linton? She needs help and John offers to assist her for Arthur's sake. It'd allow some organic discussion of Arthur's legacy and John's feelings toward him without shoehorning it into random spots in the game.” Breakfastburrito24 said, “Maybe a chapter connecting the epilogue to RDR 1.” I agree, it would be nice to see a couple of subtle hints.
