Red Dead Redemption 3 may not be on Rockstar’s list of immediate goals but rumours of a brand-new project has fans feeling divided.

With Rockstar Games hard at work on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI, fans of its Red Dead Redemption series are feeling a bit left out.

It has been almost six years since Red Dead Redemption 2 was released and with no news of a potential third entry, it is not looking good.

That is why fans are feeling even more divided after a potential brand-new IP from Rockstar has seemingly leaked online: Project Medieval.

Surfacing on r/rockstar, Project Medieval looks to be an open-world RPG set in medieval times. Shocking, I know.

With an emphasis on sword fighting rather than guns, potential fans hope it will shine a light on a dark side of history.

“I’m really curious about Project Medieval,” one contributor wrote.

“They made Red Dead so I know this will be amazing… crossbows, mace and battle axes etc.

World events happening in-game. Torture devices was a big thing during that era like the Iron Maiden, guillotine beheadings would be nice to see.

Crusades happen, religious orders. Gothic art and architecture and the expansion of learning. The Black Plague which killed millions. It would be nice to see how Rockstar makes this game.”

That all sounds like exciting stuff but with many Rockstar fans hoping we would see a Red Dead Redemption 3, it is hard not to feel a bit disappointed.

With many wishing for a backstory for the formidable Dutch Van der Linde to name a few storylines, it will be a shame not to see this played out.

“I think it's basically guaranteed that we're getting a prequel to the prequel of RDR which will be the last of this story arc,” read one post on r/reddeadredemption.

“And I would love to play as a younger Dutch as he puts the gang together.”

Let us just hope this comes to fruition one day.
