Red Dead Redemption 2's missing content finally set to return, says insider

Red Dead Redemption 2 may finally get its missing content in GTA VI, claims an industry insider.

Red Dead Redemption 2 may finally get its missing content in GTA VI, claims an industry insider.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a huge game, and that’s putting it mildly. Its vast open world features a brimming ecosystem with lush environments, plant life, vibrant towns, activities, around 200 species of animals, random events and much more. To be fair, RDR2 can be a little overwhelming at times.

So it should come as little surprise that a lot of content was cut from the game prior to its release in October 2018. Not that many of us would have noticed. Amongst the cut content, fans have speculated over the years that romance options for Arthur Morgan were trimmed down.

Without giving too much away, Arthur has only one love interest in Red Dead Redemption 2, and that’s his old flame, Mary Linton.

Granted, player interactions with Mary are quite limited and the romantic options are perhaps not to the level of the Mass Effect series. That being said, players could participate in the quests involving Mary and Arthur, to learn more about their heartbreaking history.

As reported by Comicbook.com, players have speculated that the cut romance options would have included the likes of fan-favourite character, Sadie Adler as well as other members of the Van der Linde gang.

Naturally, if that speculation was true, it seems like a missed opportunity to add even more immersion to Rockstar Games’ western hit. Perhaps the pressures of hitting release date targets were a possible reason that additional romance options were apparently cut from the game.

Thankfully, however, it seems that the alleged cut romance options might be a feature in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI. If true, it would be the first time we’ve seen proper romance in the series since GTA: San Andreas and GTA IV.

Reddit user and dataminer, Naphor claims that the two protagonists of GTA VI, Jason and Lucia will have a romance progression system of sorts which could be impacted by the choices that players make in-game as well as individual missions.

It is also claimed that the relationship between Jason and Lucia can be either passive or romantic. What’s more, certain missions can be completed with a Cool, Pragmatic or Romantic relationship status between the two characters. However, players can totally avoid romantic activity between the duo if they please.

Obviously, this rumour should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. But, if the rumours are true, it will be interesting to see if the player can develop relationships outside of Jason and Lucia.

In related news, an alleged leaked GTA VI trailer has been accused of being mobile quality. What’s more, it is rumoured that if Microsoft successfully acquires Activision Blizzard, Sony will be going after Rockstar Games.

At this time, despite knowing that Rockstar Games is hard at work on the next entry in this ever-popular series, GTA VI still does not have a release date.
