Red Dead Redemption 2 Free Downloads Announced, There’s Not Long To Claim

Spooky...

Red Dead Redemption 2 players can unleash their inner ghoul this month with some more freebies coming to Red Dead Online.

While it’s not as populated or supported as GTA V’s online mode, Red Dead Online is still a serviceable multiplayer experience in its own right.

If you’re playing on PC, it’s even better as you have access to more servers. In fact, every time I see Red Dead Online content on my social feeds it’s almost always a roleplay server if that’s your cup of tea.

For the general Red Dead Online mode though, Rockstar Games is delivering some more festive freebies to celebrate Halloween 2025.

The freebies were announced on Rockstar’s website in a post reading, “Halloween is the perfect time to unleash your inner ghoul. Celebrate in sinister style with this look by Game2Get, topped off with a menacing Swine Mask for those who prefer the safety — and thrill — of anonymity. Claim the Swine Mask from Madam Nazar and the following clothing pieces for free from the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue.”

The clothes/outfits you’ll be able to add to your wardrobe include a Swine Mask, Stringham Shirt, Cuffed Town Pants and Hightop Moccasins.

Quite a spooky ensemble, but it’s a shame nothing is really happening in-game for Halloween to truly show it off.

Earlier this year, there was a nice surprise though with a selection of missions that saw players wrestle with robots and survive zombie invasions, 'Strange Tales of the West Vol. 1'. We're still waiting to hear on a second volume.

The dream would be Red Dead Redemption 2 getting a new-gen port for the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, along with a brand-new Undead Nightmare DLC to go with it, but obviously the chances of the latter happening are low.

Red Dead Online felt like a missed opportunity for Rockstar Games, as so much more could have been done with it through updates.

Understandably, the studio chose to pour most of its efforts into GTA Online, the more popular online experience, but Red Dead Online still had potential to be what its Grand Theft Auto counterpart wasn’t and explore more of the supernatural side of Rockstar’s world.

Like in Undead Nightmare, it would have been cool to see some updates explore the aliens that have popped up in Rockstar’s project more times than one, or perhaps Bigfoot which was a unique side quest in Red Dead Redemption.
