First released back in 2011 but receiving a highly anticipated remaster just last year, this beloved PS3 and Xbox 360 title deserves all of the hype.

Launched on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for the first time well over a decade ago, Shadows of the Damned was an action-adventure title developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Electronic Arts.

The story follows Mexican demon hunter Garcia Hotspur who must travel to the City of the Damned to battle all of the evil that lurks within in order to save his girlfriend Paula who was captured by the Lord of the Demons, Fleming.

Despite receiving generally good reviews, Shadows of the Damned sold poorly so it was a surprise to fans that it received a current-gen remaster in October last year.

Now available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, players both old and new flocked to the game which offered both a “punk rock” and psychological action thriller in one.

The remaster, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, currently sits at a “Very Positive” rating on Steam a year on from its launch.

“Shadows of the Damned, an action-adventure road trip through hell, has been remastered at last!” The official synopsis reads.

“Get ready for a story about rock, love, and just a little bit of demon slaying.”

With the remaster offering four new outfits so that Garcia can “get dressed to the nines and kick some demon tail in style” as well as a New Game Plus+ option, it is definitely a step up from the original and its positive reviews reflect that.

The return of a classic

“Good ol classic. Brings back those fond memories from a past era,” one review read.

Another fan agreed, adding, “It's the game you felt you're missing all this time and you'll be 14 again playing it.”

It has been a year since Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered was released and with a whole lot of demon slaying involved, it will make the perfect title to pick up again this spooky month.

Luckily, it is available at a 30 percent discount on Steam right now making it just £13.99 (or roughly $18) for the full game which will offer you hours of fun.

With fans calling it a nod to the classics whilst also offering everything you could want from a remaster, it would be a shame to miss out on Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered for the second time.
