New 'Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Footage Shows Snorlax Out For Blood

Add Snorlax to the list of Pokémon you wouldn't want to exist in real life.

So, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is very nearly upon us now, releasing at the end of this month. It’s set to really shake up the usual formula of the series, introducing a semi open-world experience for the first time (aside from the wild area in Sword and Shield, that is), and even taking us back in time to an “ancient” Pokémon region.

One of the other ways the game will venture out of the box is by having the player get in way closer to the battling action than ever before - you literally have to dodge the oncoming attacks of aggressive wild Pokémon. Which does feel like a whole lot more like what would actually happen if they existed in real life, to be fair. Anyway, this latest footage has shown that it’s not just your stereotypically aggressive ‘mons like Tyranitar and Aggron who’ll be posing a threat.

Before checking out the latest footage, be sure to check out the original trailer for Legends: Arceus below.

In the video, as well as seeing an incredibly intimidating Garchomp sending a literal earthquake in the player’s direction, we also bear witness to a very irate Snorlax lunging straight after the poor young protagonist with absolutely no remorse. We can only assume he was rudely awoken from his slumber, only to give us nightmare fuel in return.

The rest of the footage shows the player out in the wilderness catching Pokémon to create the Dex, as well as using the different services in town, where you can craft, buy and sell items. Most of it isn’t really stuff we didn’t already know, but it’s still nice to get a bit of a lengthier look at the game before its release.

Although the Snorlax clip is only a few seconds long, it’s worth noting that it seems to bear some similarity to Snorlax’s exclusive Z-Move from Sun and Moon, which was delightfully named Pulverising Pancake. Whether the chonky boy’s fury in Legends: Arceus is meant to be a reference to this is yet another matter, but either way, it seems that modern-day Pokémon really wants to hammer home the fact that Snorlax isn’t to be messed with. Be warned.
