PlayStation and Xbox gamers are being treated to a pretty hefty free download this week, to celebrate the release of an upcoming title.

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is the 26th (yes I counted) mainline Atelier game, and it’s set to release on March 21 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Steam and Nintendo Switch.

However, even though 25 Atelier games preceded this one, this is actually the first entry in the series to get an Xbox release. I guess Japan just didn’t think you guys were ready for a cute anime girl RPG until now.

If you have always wanted to get stuck into the series but didn’t want to take a risk on buying a game you might not like, then I have great news.

A demo for Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is now available on all platforms, and by the sounds of things it includes a pretty hefty chunk of the game.

If you’re still not convinced after playing through it however, then I have even better news; the reviews for this one are already out, and it sounds like it’s not half bad.

74% of critics on OpenCritic currently recommend the game, and the Metacritic score for it is currently averaging out at around 80 on all platforms.

Either way, give the demo a try for yourselves and see if you’re a fan. Personally I’ve never actually played a single Atelier game, but that’s mostly because I’m terrified that I’ll end up liking them and then having to add another 25 games to my backlog.

Still, I might give this one a go just to see. At least I’ll be able to try out the demo on whatever platform I want, considering it’s available on basically all of them.
