One of the best boomer shooters on the market is getting an official sequel, coming out next year for all platforms.
As a Warhammer fan I’ve been tuning into today’s Warhammer: Skulls livestream event, and I was over the moon to see Warhammer 40k: Boltgun is getting a sequel.
Check out the trailer for Warhammer 40k: Boltgun 2 below
If you haven’t played the first game yet, it’s currently available for free as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription, and I’d urge you to give it a go as it’s a lot of fun.

The game follows the space marine Malum Caedo, in events set directly after the story of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine.
Players will traverse dangerous worlds and come face-to-face with daemons, heretics and other deadly threats as they rip and tear through hordes of monstrous foes, with a large assortment of destructive weapons at your disposal.
The sequel looks to be much of the same, though with a new threat emerging and likely more deadly toys for Malum to play with.
In a statement to GAMINGbible the principal designer for the game, Matt Bone said: “Boltgun is a game close to all our hearts and we couldn't wait to get stuck into a sequel - especially as we have a ton of ideas we've been itching to try.

“We can't share too much yet, but we're looking to expand on all the things players liked about the first game - the fast-paced retro shooter gameplay, its over-the-top grimdark tone - whilst throwing in plenty of new surprises.”
Warhammer 40k: Boltgun 2 will release on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms sometime in 2026, but in the meantime you can play a new version of the first game, Warhammer 40k: Boltgun – Words of Vengeance, for free on PC right now.
