The PlayStation January sale is live right now, and there's lots of time to snap up award-winning and nominated games for a fraction of their price.

The summer smash hit Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is showing little signs of slowing down, and it's sure to be a staple of stay-at-home entertainment this winter. Season 3 started one week ago, and offers new costumes like the nutcracker, elf, reindeer, yeti, and more, as well as new snowy stages like Penguin Pursuit where players chase down a mechanical penguin across the tiny arena. Discounted by 20% for £12, it's a great game to play for all. If you're acquainted with the shows Total Wipeout or Takeshi's Castle, you'll be right at home horsing around as a colourful bean out for the crown.

There are also enticing deals for a number of the biggest games of the year. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is 25% off, or you could opt for the cross-gen bundle for a fiver more and own the current and last-gen versions of the game. Phil enjoyed his time with Treyarch and Raven Software's latest entry into the series, and it boasts a "gripping single-player story" best played once the little ones have headed off to Nod. "It's clear from the start that Raven has attempted to put their own spin on the single-player experience, adding further depth and value to an explosive storyline," said Phil. "With multiple endings and dialogue choices woven throughout, the player actively shapes the campaign towards one of the game's conclusions."

The Last of Us Part 2, winner of seven awards at this year's The Game Awards, sees a hefty saving of 43%, knocking it down to £31. Ubisoft is well-represented in the sale too, with Assassin's Creed Valhalla cross-gen bundle for £41 and Watch Dogs: Legion cross-gen bundle for £35. Of course, there are other editions of these games with individual digital goodies, so it's down to your own wants on this front.

Furthermore, fans of sports sims will be happy, with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 for £29, eFootball PES 2021 for £14, NBA 2K21 for £25, FIFA 21 for £31, and F1 2020 for £27. Actually, the Deluxe Schumacher Edition of F1 2020 is only £4 on top of the base edition, and adds a Michael Schumacher driver model, along with the themed multiplayer car liveries, helmets, race suits, and a podium celebration emote.

Finally, if you missed out on some of the great games of the last few years, you'll be able to find them here. ARK: Survival Evolved is less than £10, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled is £12, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 is less than £6. Most importantly, don't rush on over there to throw cash at the store all in a tizzy. The sales end on January 22nd, 2021. So if, like me, all of your family decided to be born literally the week after Christmas, there are birthday presents ticked off right here.
