God Of War will run at a silky-smooth 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5, developer Sony Santa Monica has confirmed. Not that most of us ever need an excuse to replay such a fantastic game but yeah... there's your excuse.

This exciting next-gen news came via the official SIE Santa Monica Studio Twitter account. When the PS5 launches on November 12th (or 19th in the UK), there'll be a "Favour Performance" option accessible from God Of War's menu while playing on the next-gen console. Enabling this allows you to boost those framerates - though if you'd rather stick to what you know, you can simple avoid the option.

In addition, the studio also revealed that we'll be able to transfer our PS4 saves and pick up right where we left off. Those of us still avoiding taking on the challenge of New Game + might finally be coaxed into it on PS5. I know I'm seriously thinking about it in preparation for the upcoming sequel.

God Of War will be one of the many PS4 games available to play on the next-gen console from day one. It's also one of the 18 games available in the PlayStation Plus Collection, a lineup of "generation defining" PS4 games that PS5 owners with a PlayStation Plus subscription will be able to access and play, complete with one or two shiny next-gen improvements.

While we know God Of War will support 60fps, we can likely also assume that faster loading times will factor in on the next-gen console. Naughty Dog recently released an update for The Last Of Us Remastered that more than halves loading screens on PS4, and will likely do the same or better on PS5.

Am I going to spend a worrying amount of my first day with my PS5 playing through old games I've already played dozens of times just to see how they run? God help me, I am. And I'll enjoy it too.
