PlayStation has announced a major new free console giveaway, and the best part? You don't even need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to get involved.

Believe it or not it's been a year since PlayStation Plus rolled out its new, tiered system, and the occasion is being marked with a bunch of big freebies, giveaways, and other celebrations. Most of these are, as you'd probably expect, exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers, but not this one.

Over on the PlayStation Blog you can find details of a huge giveaway in which you could win a PlayStation 5, PS VR2 headset, and a PS VR2 Sense controller. Blimey.

The blog post explains: "Join the PlayStation Plus celebration for an opportunity to win a PS5 console and the groundbreaking PS VR2 headset with the PS VR2 Sense controller. To participate, head over to the PlayStation Plus website and answer five questions about the service."

The competition runs from tomorrow (June 20) to June 30, so you've got plenty of time to throw your hat into the ring. Head over to the PlayStation Plus page to find out more about the survey you need to take and what exactly you need to do to claim the big prize.

While not quite as exciting, PlayStation has also announced a PlayStation Plus free weekend. From June 24 to June 25 non subscribers will be able to play all the online games they want without a PlayStation Plus subscription.

Those of you with a PlayStation Plus subscription have plenty to look forward to throughout the rest of the month too, of course. The latest batch of free games threaten to take up over 450 hours of your time, which is... a lot.

The full lineup of PS Plus Extra games for the month is as follows:Far Cry 6, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Rogue Legacy 2, Inscryption, Soulstice, Tacoma, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Killing Floor 2, Lonely Mountains: Downhill, Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York, Hundred Days: Winemaking Simulator, A Hat in Time, Carto, Forager, Dodgeball Academia, Redout 2, Thief, MX vs ATV Legends, PAW Patrol Mighty Pups: Save Adventure Bay!, My Friend Peppa Pig, DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace, The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition, Elex 2, and The Wild at Heart.
