If you’re anything like me, you probably don’t just use your PlayStation 5 for gaming. That may be its primary use but it’s also my one-stop shop for streaming. I’ll admit, I’m eight months into my The Walking Dead binge (I’m almost done, I swear), so Disney+ might just be my most used app right now.
What you may not realise is that to date, the PlayStation 5 Disney+ app wasn’t actually a native app. It was simply the PlayStation 4 version ported over. That’s all changing though as today, Disney+ is relaunching on PS5 with a brand new native app - and it includes a highly requested feature.
Speaking of Disney+, check out the trailer for Marvel’s upcoming series Secret Invasion below.
From today, PS5 owners can download the brand new native Disney+ app which, very excitingly, now supports new-gen 4K HDR video streaming. This may be glaringly obvious, but this now means that you can watch your favourite movies and TV series in full crispy clear glory.

“A key part of our global expansion strategy is to meet consumers wherever they are, which is why we’re excited to enhance Disney+ for PlayStation 5 users,” said Jerrell Jimerson, EVP of product and design at Disney Streaming. “The ability to support 4K HDR video streaming on the platform will also improve the viewing experience for fans.”
What’s going to be your first 4K port of call? I can hear the call of 4K Thor in Love And Thunder summoning me already. What a marvellous sight that shall be.
