Sony has released a new update to the PS5 store in a beta update which gives the whole thing a huge makeover.
Earlier this week, we reported on PlayStation 5’s UI overhaul, which brought new icons to help users navigate through various functions of the PS5 home screen.
Now, it seems like Sony is setting its sights on making big changes to the way items are presented to you on the PlayStation Store, adding a new Netflix-style overhaul complete with large icons and easily visible tags.
As Gaming.Bo3.gg shared on X (formerly Twitter), an image of the new store changes shows two recent releases, Starfield and People Of Note, which both have large, wide images on the front page of the store.

Underneath the image, you can see a short description of the game as well as the price, available platforms, and some tagged categories indicating what kind of game it is.
Starfield, for example, has “Space Exploration”, “Open-World”, “RPG”, “Story Rich”, and “Cinematic” associated with it, which sounds about right.
Presumably, some tags will be shown to you more than others depending on the types of games you play and enjoy. So if you play a lot of RPGs, the PS5 store will likely show you more RPGs than, say, strategy or sports games.
Meanwhile, the store UI refresh also features the ability to play the corresponding game’s trailer if you hover over a tile, giving you a better look at how the game plays in motion. Previously, you’d have to go onto a store page and navigate to find the trailer.

Altogether, it’s looking rather swish and should be a decent upgrade for those who buy a lot of games from the PlayStation Store. It seems easier to navigate, and pushes all the relevant information to you sooner.
It actually looks a lot closer to the Steam Store now with the big tiles and auto-playing trailers, which is also going through a UI refresh itself.
There hasn’t been any indication from Sony yet on when the full UI update to the PlayStation Store is going to hit all regions. Right now, it’s apparently limited to only a few select users in a beta trial, so it might be a while yet before we see the full thing drop for everyone.
