The Last of Us TV series is finally here - after what’s felt like a lifetime of waiting, the very first episode is available to view now on HBO for US fans, and on Sky Atlantic or Now TV for those in the UK.

If you’re totally new to the game series (or just feel like trying out last year’s Part I remake), now’s the perfect time to get into it. As The Loadout reports, PS5 owners subscribed to PlayStation Plus’ pricey Premium tier can now experience two hours of The Last of Us Part I totally free as part of their subscription.

Take a look at the trailer for The Last of Us Part I below.

Although this demo barely scratches the surface of the full TLoU1 experience, it’s certainly worth trying if you’ve not already played it. Even if you go at a leisurely pace, you’ll be able to have your heart thoroughly crushed by the opening, and feast your eyes on the gorgeous upgraded visuals. Regardless of if you’ve played the original game or its remaster before, the remake really is a sight to behold, and there’s nothing to lose now that you can try it for absolutely nothing.

What’s more, all progress made in the demo (including any trophies earned) will be transferred over to the full game if you later decide to buy it, so you don’t need to worry about wasting your time on data that’ll just be lost. Equally, you could decide not to buy the game at all, and that’s fine too. I’m not the boss of you.

If you don’t care about the remake’s upgrades, you can also play the entirety of The Last of Us Remastered for free with a PS Plus Premium subscription. So, if you’ve just finished the first episode of the show and really need to know what happens next, that’s always an option. Otherwise, it’s a full week to go until the next episode, and even as someone who already knows how this story goes, I can hardly wait.
