Xbox's long-awaited Fable reboot release date just got a lot closer

Please let this date rumour be true

Xbox fans are always on the lookout for information on new games. Given how few first-party titles we’ve had from the Microsoft brand, it’s no surprise. All we want is brilliant games that elevate the platform - and several seem to be on the way. One we know is definitely coming soon is Fable. But how soon?

If rumours are to be believed, the reboot of the beloved franchise will launch next year, in 2025. This information comes from a user on Resetera, NateDrake, who seems to have it on good authority that the game will be with us next year.

The original Fable was groundbreaking and garnered millions of fans.

When a user asked ‘Nate’ if Fable was coming in 2025, they replied saying, “That was the last target I had heard sometime last year.” The last we heard about the game was a trailer featuring Richard Ayoade that gave us a taste of the humour we can expect and showed some of the fairy tales tropes the game will spoof. Since then, all we’ve been able to do is speculate.

2025 would make a lot of sense from Microsoft’s perspective as they’ve been focusing on seeing an increase in first-party games and those that would support Xbox Game Pass. The future of Xbox is looking bright and it’s great to see; among others we’ve got an Indiana Jones game on the way, along with a rumoured game from ID Software, and then there’s Hellblade 2 and Avowed.

Here’s hoping we’ll see more of Fable this year during the summer gaming conventions. The series has long been a favourite of many as it wickedly spoofed both fairy tales and RPGs in one hit, all while introducing a lot of features now commonplace. As long as we can kick chickens around and NPCs call us horrible names as we walk through the village, we’ll be happy.
