A celebration of an impressive studio

Microsoft has unveiled yet another new themed Xbox controller.

Thankfully, this is one you can actually buy; yes, there’s no competition blocking you from getting your hands on it.

Microsoft is no stranger to teaming up with publishers, creating limited-edition hardware themed around the industry’s biggest releases and collaborations.

As I alluded to though, these are usually given away via competitions.

Thankfully, this latest collab is readily available, and it’s one that celebrates one of Microsoft’s most beloved first-party studios.

8BitDo has unveiled the Ultimate 3-mode Controller for Xbox - Rare 40th Anniversary Edition celebrating, you guessed it, Rare’s 40th anniversary.

The controller features Hall Effect sticks, Impulse Triggers, a golden metal D-pad, pro-style back buttons, and a three-profile system - and you can switch between those profiles instantly.

You won’t have to worry about finding a new set of batteries either, as the Ultimate 3-mode Controller comes built with a rechargeable 100mAh Li-on battery that should last around 20 hours.

When it’s time to recharge, the controller handily has an accompanying charging stand, also themed, which should have you back up to full juice in four hours.

Of course, it’s the theming that most people are fawning over; not the features.

The blue and gold design features characters and Easter eggs from Rare’s extensive back catalogue, with nods to Banjo-Kazooie and Sea of Thieves.

You can purchase the controller via Amazon for $89.99 so while it’s not exactly cheap, it’s not too bad for a bit of kit with pro-style features.

It’s already been very well received by longtime fans.

“I bought two,” wrote RareDanDaBase on Twitter.

“So awesome,” added xhipnotoadx.

While this one hasn’t been advertised as limited-edition, it does seem to be in high demand, so I wouldn’t wait too long if you want to get your hands on it.
