It looks like one of PlayStation’s most popular RPGs is coming to Xbox very shortly, that’s at least according to a recent rumour.

Up until recently, the Persona series from SEGA and Atlus was primarily associated with the PlayStation brand. However, the most recent entry in the series is Persona 3 Reload which was released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox in February. This popular JRPG series can now call Xbox and Nintendo its second home, and the upcoming Persona 6 could also be multiplatform.

In our review of Persona 3 Reload, we said: “Overall, when you evaluate Persona 3: Reload on how well it remakes the original, it’s clear this is an improvement in almost every way. It’s a masterful JRPG with a lot of heart and streamlined gameplay that’s beautifully presented through stunning animations and a fantastic soundtrack.”

When talking with content creator Spawn Wave, industry insider Nate the Hate claimed that sources have informed him that Persona 6 will be multi-platform. If true, that would be huge news. “From the information I’ve heard, it does seem that Persona 6 will be coming to the Xbox,” claimed Nate the Hate. “So fans of Persona have something to look forward to.”

Nate the Hate went on to explain that it’s not been confirmed whether the Xbox version will launch alongside PlayStation but teased fans not to be surprised if that happened, as well as it launching on Xbox Game Pass.

“I'm not 100% sure if it's day-and-date with the PlayStation version, but considering the way the Persona games have been day-and-date with the multi-platform releases at this point, it may be a safe assumption to make that Persona 6 will be day-and-date Xbox and PlayStation. It would be a really big deal if Microsoft was able to secure that on Game Pass.”

Of course, we should take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until officially confirmed otherwise. That being said, Nate the Hate does have a good reputation for leaking accurate information. As they say, watch this space.

At the time of writing Persona 6 hasn't been officially announced.
