Xbox Gamers Praise Game-Changing Feature, Highlight of a Tough Gen

Xbox still has it

Xbox has had a below standards console generation so far and there’s little hope that the next one will be better.

To some, the Xbox Series X/S has become a bit of a joke amidst the community and while the ROG Ally X was a handheld win for the company Steam stole its thunder by announcing the Steam Machine, which will undoubtedly compete with the rumoured Xbox and PC hybrid Microsoft is supposedly developing.

Though its main competitor PlayStation marginally having a much better go of it this generation there are some things Xbox has gotten right.

In a rare instance of praise for the gaming giant, Xbox owners have shared what they’d consider to be the strongest additions to gaming Xbox has produced over the years, many of which came about with the Xbox Series X/S.

The Reddit post by Environmental-Day862 highlighted several innovations Xbox has been responsible for but one that stood out amongst the rest was Quick Resume.

Commenter OmeletteDuFromage95 praised this feature above all others, adding: “I can't understate just how amazing cloud saves are with the platform. Trying to play a game on another Playstation was a hassle and don't get me started with Nintendo's. Xbox' ridiculously easy and seamless and free. Being able to just go and sign into whatever computer, Xbox, or phone there is and to have your games accessible at no cost is phenomenal.”

Fallout New Vegas-
Bethesda

Being able to hop in and out of your games regardless of your platform was indeed a game-changing innovation in gaming, and if the company is going to lean more into PC gaming as rumours claim those features will feel right at home.

I don’t use my Xbox as much as I used to so I was amazed when I didn’t touch it for a good month and went back to discover my playthrough of Fallout: New Vegas was ready and waiting for me still. No loading, no menus, I was thrown back into the gameplay instantly.

Another honourable mention though has to be backwards compatibility. You can play previous-gen games on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 but it’s nowhere near as good, or locked behind a subscription service.

Being able to slap my original copy of Max Payne into my console and have it just work is fantastic, even better when they’re optimised for free as well.

Xbox has had a rough time as of late, but it does have its moments.
