Xbox gamers have urged Game Pass subscribers to check out a new release hailed as “something special”.

The Xbox Game Pass subscription service offers tons of video games to play in an instant and depending on the tier, you will even get additional benefits such as free DLC.

One of the best benefits of Xbox Game Pass, especially when it comes to the Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers is that we get to play first-party exclusives on day one such as Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed and more.

This week, another new addition arrived to Xbox Game Pass and that’s the action-adventure from Compulsion Games, South of Midnight.

In our review of South of Midnight, we said: “offers such a remarkable story and what could be the year’s best soundtrack. Just like Hazel, South of Midnight occasionally stumbles, but it’s most definitely still a journey worth venturing on.”

Of course, whether we like any game is subjective but it’s fair to say that South of Midnight is getting some love from gamers.

“Xbox has something special with South of Midnight. I’m loving it so far. It really sets a mood,” said Redditor MrGamePadMan, kicking off the discussion on the thread.

“It’s a gorgeous game thanks to its stunning art direction. Visuals, sound, dialogue, everything is top-notch. I’m loving it so far,” replied majorziggytom.

“It’s a good game. I beat it over the weekend and the more I think about it, the more I like it. I hope people give it a shot,” said LookLikeUpToMe.

“I just started this one. So far it's a surprisingly authentic representation of the American South,” explained MJCrim. “The main character feels like somebody that I know. The game somehow feels weirdly similar to Respawn's Star Wars Jedi games, which definitely isn't a bad thing.”

South of Midnight is out now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
