Xbox fans have urged gamers to check out a new free game hailed as a “remarkable gaming experience” that you cannot miss.

While not always hitting the ball out of the park, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can be treated to surprise bangers now and again, such as the recently released South of Midnight from Compulsion Games, as well as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Not content with releasing just two hits within the last few weeks, along comes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developed by the small 30-plus team at Sandfall Interactive, a game that has sparked some jealousy from PlayStation Plus subscribers.

In our review of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, GAMINGbible’s Dan said: “It whisks the player away into a truly impactful world, with a powerful and emotional story bubbling away, enhanced by some stellar acting.”

“There were moments I was brought to spilling a couple of tears, alongside some that had me laughing riotously. The battles, which can so often feel stagnant in a bustling genre, are refreshing, tactical, and delightful.”

“Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 may be the highest user-scored game ever,” declared Redditor ReaddittiddeR, referring to its then-score of 9.6 on Metacritic.

At the time of writing, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has scored 92 from critics and an improved 9.7 from users.

“It really is a remarkable gaming experience. The story is compelling, the music is great, the characters are impactful, and the combat is extraordinary,” explained August_XXVIII. “I'm having a blast with this game, and it's hard to put down.”

“This game is sparking so much joy in me,” said a delighted zombie-jaw.

“There really needs to be a demo for this game, for people who are holding back on buying it because it's turn-based,” suggested secretsaucebear. “For real, based on the prologue alone, sales will be through the roof,” added Kaythar.

“I am so glad that the Oblivion remaster launch didn't obscure this gem,” joked the pun-tastic RhythmRobber, with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered releasing just two days earlier.

“This game is a certified banger, it’s a pleasure to support the game developers,” declared Yharnam_Blunderbuss.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
