If you’re on the lookout for something new to play, you’ve come to the right place.

Claymore Game Studios has launched a brand new demo for its upcoming Commandos: Origins, and it’s free to sample across Xbox and PC.

If you’re not aware, Commandos: Origins is an upcoming real-time strategy game set within World War II.

It’s due to launch later this year although a release date hasn’t been confirmed just yet.

“ALARM! You have been selected for a mission which will shape the fate of the entire world. Witness the very beginning of the legendary elite WWII force in Commandos: Origins,” the synopsis teases.

“The long-awaited sequel to the Commandos series brings you right back to the foundation of the real-time tactics genre.”

If you’re not already familiar with the Commandos series, worry not.

The fact that this game is subtitled ‘Origins’ should make it clear that we’re going back to where it all began and you therefore need no prior knowledge.

Don't forget that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches later this year.

Players will partake in raids, as well as sabotage and rescue missions as they make use of stealth and destruction tactics in order to succeed.

“From the icy plains of the Arctic to the vast deserts of Africa, from the western coastlines of Europe to the Eastern front, it’s up to you to lead your commandos to success in high-risk missions. Guide them in their fight against the growing Nazi occupation which is menacing the free world.”

There are six characters in total, each with their own unique histories and skill sets, and there are over 10 missions all of which boast authentic WWII environments.

You can go it alone, or participate in online or local split-screen co-op.

In the demo, you’ll experience an exclusive test mission that introduces the gameplay mechanics and stealth tactics that await you in the full release.

To locate the demo, simply search Commando: Origins on either the Xbox Store or Steam.

The game is landing day one on Xbox Game Pass so if you like what you play, that’s potentially a nice little added bonus.
