The excitement is building ahead of this Sunday’s Xbox Showcase, which is due to kick off at 6pm BST / 10am PDT on 7 June.

The event will shine a spotlight on what’s next for Xbox’s gaming line-up, with many gamers also hoping that we’ll catch a glimpse of new-gen console Project Helix.

Ahead of Sunday’s event, don’t forget that Xbox’s weekly Free Play Days is underway.

It’s a decent edition this week with 10 games now available to enjoy, one of which you don’t need Xbox Game Pass for.

This week’s line-up comes courtesy of publisher No More Robots with all titles free until the end of the day on Sunday, 7 June.

All Xbox Users Can Sample A 2019 Hit Sports Game

Let’s begin with Descenders, as you don’t need Game Pass to get involved with this one.

Developed by RageSquid, this 2019 sports title sees players engage in “extreme downhill freeriding” as they traverse various procedurally generated worlds.

“Will you lead your team to glory and become the next legendary Descender?” it asks.

Descenders has great reviews and near-endless replayability, plus the title is on offer for $6.24 instead of $24.99 if you want to keep playing.

A Further Nine Games Are Available To Game Pass Users, Including One Still In Development

If you have a Game Pass subscription to any tier, you can also enjoy Little Rocket Lab, Sprittea, Soccer Story, Let’s Build A Zoo, Hypnospace Outlaw, Slayers X, Nowhere Prophet, and Family Man.

Little Rocket Lab launched only last year and is a cosy pixel art automation game from Teenage Astronauts where you’re tasked with building factories and developing friendships.

The goal is that you fulfil your mother’s dream of launching a rocket ship. It’s another title that’s popular with players and you can score it for $13.99 instead of $19.99 for a limited time.

Spirittea is a game inspired by Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away. It’s another cosy pixel art game but this time, you’ll run a bathhouse with various spirits stopping by that need catering to.

It’s one I highly recommend, and you can pick it up for $9.99 instead of $19.99.

Soccer Story is also among this weekend’s freebies. In this 2022 adventure title, a company by the name of Soccer Inc has closed down every stadium, team, and tournament.

Luckily, a magical soccer ball - or football - has chosen you to be the sport’s saviour. Grab this one for just $2.99 instead of the usual $19.99.

If you prefer management sims, you might enjoy Let’s Build A Zoo, which sees you do just that.

This one arrived in 2021 from Springloaded and is also well-loved by its players. You won’t just build enclosures, as you can also splice DNA with the title featuring over 300,000 animal breeds.

Secure it for $7.99 instead of $19.99 to keep playing past Sunday.

Something quite different is up next. Hypnospace Outlaw is part simulation, part point and click - and definitely one of the weirder games on this list.

“Greetings Enforcer, and thank you for enlisting in the Hypnospace Patrol Department,” the synopsis begins.

“As the world falls into its slumber, Hypnospace becomes a bustling global village. These virtual streets aren't going to police themselves!”

It’s going to set you back $4.99 instead of $19.99 for full access.

Another retro-inspired game is Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengeance of the Slayer. Yes, it’s a wordy title.

Featuring music by Seepage and Psyko Syndikate, players will utilise seven weapons across various maps as they blow up everything in their wake.

There’s a DOOM feel to this title by Big Z Studios, and it’s yours for $6.79 instead of $16.99.

If you’re sitting there complaining, I’ve yet to mention a deckbuilder; your luck is changing.

You’ll find what you’re after in Sharkbomb Studios’ 2019 release Nowhere Prophet. This single-player card game sees you traverse a broken world which has a bit of a Horizon or Star Wars feel to it.

Think Tatooine. Sweeping desert landscapes where technology has been scavenged into makeshift weapons and armour.

It’s yours for $7.49 instead of $24.99.

Then there’s Family Man, the joint cheapest of the bunch at $2.99 instead of $19.99.

It describes itself as a “dark, story-led RPG”.

“You owe money to the mob, and you've got three weeks to pay it back. Will you flip burgers and earn an honest living while scraping the money together... or will you take on some dirty jobs for more cash, but potentially push your family away?” it teases.

Finally, Game Pass users can access an early preview of Descenders Next, the follow-up to Descenders which features yet more downhill freeriding action.

There isn’t a limit on how far you can progress in each of these games.

The only caveat is that access will expire at the end of the day on Sunday with players then having to purchase the full releases if they want to continue playing.
