Pretty much since the dawn of the home video game console, we have been treated to a plethora of fantastic platformers that spark gleeful memories from our childhood and it looks like Xbox will be bringing back two of our favourites.

Just two of the most beloved platform games from a lot of childhoods are Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon which both made their debut on the original PlayStation in 1996 and 1998, respectively. For some, Crash and Spyro represent some of the best that its genre has to offer.

Check out the Spyro Reignited Trilogy trailer below!

Over the many years that followed, both the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro series would be released on other platforms including Xbox and Nintendo, yet, it often feels odd seeing each franchise not being played on PlayStation. If that concept still feels odd to you, it’s something we’re all going to have to get used to given the fact that Microsoft now owns the publisher of both franchises, Activision.

Despite Microsoft laying off a large portion of its workforce which directly impacted Crash Bandicoot and Spyro developer Toys for Bob, it’s being reported that Microsoft is “dedicated” to bringing back the childhood favourites at some point. That’s at least according to industry insider Jez Corden and YouTuber Canadian Guy Eh.

According to an anonymous source and provider of today’s information Microsoft is “dedicated to Toys for Bob and their IPs” which in turn could spell good news for Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. Whether each of the new games will be multiplatform, remains to be seen, but we hope that PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch will all see new releases.

We’ll just have to wait to see how this speculation evolves in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we can at least enjoy some of the best games that each series has to offer thanks to glorious remasters with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy available now on PC and modern consoles.
