As part of the latest Xbox campaign to play games anywhere, and on any device, the Xbox app for PC has received a huge update that creates an aggregated library from everything you already own.
What this means for you is that the Xbox app on PC will now represent games you’ve bought on Steam, GOG, and on the Windows Store.
This is going to be a central feature for the ROG Xbox Ally handheld, which is portable PC hardware and will allow players to play any game they own from PC storefronts.
So, with this in mind, you can now technically launch a PlayStation game, for example, The Last of Us, from Steam, within the Xbox software.

Xbox fans have begun to wonder if this will be a feature for the next-gen Xbox console, and at this point, it wouldn’t be a surprise - there’s even plenty of sources saying this is a guarantee.
In recent years, Xbox has been branching out to work with others and break down walls between themselves and their once rivals.
Sure, this is only for PC right now, but by the end of the year, Xbox branded hardware - the ROG Xbox Ally - will be able to play anything from Steam, including those from first-party Sony studios.
You can’t buy these games directly through the app, you must own them already, or open Steam to purchase them, but this is still a pretty handy development.

While some see this as an unprecedented step in ending rivalries, others point out that this has been possible on Linux for a long time, and even GOG collates your multiple libraries.
Still, it will offer a decent shortcut for players who own hundreds of games across various storefronts, making it easier to see your digital collection in one place.
