Halo returns in surprise free download you can claim now on Xbox

Halo fans will love this!

If you’re a Halo fan on the lookout for an Xbox freebie, then look no further.

Other than being able to play great games and watch movies with ease via streaming apps such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, one of the best features that I’ve loved since the PlayStation 3 days are dynamic themes, a feature that has crossed over into every console generation since.

Check out the Halo 3 trailer below!

It might be taking PlayStation 5 a while to catch up to the number of dynamic themes that were available on PS4, but Xbox Series X/S has them in plenty inspired by the likes of Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Halo Infinite and more.

As reported by Comicbook (via Xbox.com), you can claim a free dynamic theme via the Xbox Series X/S that celebrates 50 years of Microsoft. The theme includes first-party franchises such as Halo, Gears of War and Skyrim to name a few.

There is even a free theme inspired by the Solitare card game, a popular pastime provided by the Windows operating system of yesteryear as well as three Gamerpics - a Windows cursor, a floppy disc and Clippy.

That is not all, because if you are a member of the Xbox Insider program, you can claim an exclusive ‘Microsoft 50th Anniversary’ badge to proudly display as your Xbox profile pic which can be accessed via the Insider app on the console.

To access Xbox themes, simply select 'Settings', then go to 'General', 'Personalisation', 'My Colour & Theme' and finally, 'My Background' to make your desired choice for your background to look nice and snazzy.

It will be interesting to see if Microsoft dishes out more 50th celebratory freebies in the coming days such as free credit, which has happened before. As always, we'll keep you posted if that happens.
