Halo X Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 crossover leaks

If you're wondering why something like this hadn't happened sooner, there's a good reason for that

You know, when Microsoft finalised their purchase of Activision back in 2023, I sort of assumed we’d be seeing silly crossovers left, right and centre. I just wanna see Master Chief ride Spyro into battle, is that too much to ask?

Seems like an easy lay-up to me. Put all your popular characters in a bunch of each other’s games and get that cross-marketing synergy going ASAP.

But alas, nothing has really come of it so far… and if a recent leak is to be believed, nothing will come of it for a little while longer.

According to a recent report by Videogamer’s Jon Nicholson, a Halo x Call of Duty crossover of sorts was planned to be featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III back in 2023.

Unfortunately, it seems the team-up was scrapped at the last minute, if a post from well-known Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope is to be believed.

Black Ops 6 is almost upon us.

Although the image in TheGhostOfHope’s post is fake, the leaker specified that the collaboration itself isn’t.

“Only used his image for my post…” they stated in reply to another commenter, “There was an actual bundle collab for one of the seasons that got scrapped.”

Of course, there is still a good chance we still might see Master Chief pop up in a Call of Duty game pretty soon.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is mere days away at this point. Perhaps, and I’m just theorising here but, the Halo collaboration in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was scrapped so that it could be used as one of the selling points for Black Ops 6.

Considering Modern Warfare III was well into development prior to the Microsoft/Activision deal being finalised, the collaboration may have originally been a multi-system affair - much like how you can use a Master Chief skin in Fortnite even if you play the game on a PlayStation 5.

Now that Microsoft does officially own Activision, I wouldn’t be surprised if any Halo-related skins or content end up being exclusive to the Xbox versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

We’ll have to wait and see how it all pans out once the game officially releases on October 25 next week.
