The next Witcher game CD Projekt Red is cooking up may be unavailable for a large majority of players, sad but true.

We don’t much about the next Witcher game, as CD Projekt Red has kept the whole thing hush-hush, likely in an attempt to quell the hype until the game is good and ready, after all we don’t want another Cyberpunk 2077 on our hands.

What we have been told is the next game won’t just be an enhanced version of The Witcher 3, it’ll introduce several new elements and gameplay mechanics to make it stand out, though it’s rumoured Geralt will be making a return.

Unfortunately while we wait many have come to the horrifying realisation that thousands will likely be unable to play the game at launch.

As I’m sure we’re aware, for better or worse, the current generation of consoles is slowly coming to an end, with Sony saying as much when it confirmed the PS5 is entering the latter stages of its life.

Therefore it’s not out of the question to think the majority of AAA games currently in development are not being planned for the console we currently own, but for the ones that’ll come after.

If The Witcher 4 is one of those titles, and in all likelihood it will be, many players will need to either buy the latest hardware, an increasingly expensive affair, or be left behind and risk missing the hype train.

It’s a sad reality but that’s just how it is nowadays, and something we’re going to have to get used to going forward, as well as a batch of current-gen games being “remade” for the new-generation.

Regardless, The Witcher 4 being in development is still very exciting, and I’m sure Witcher fans across the world simply can’t wait to see what new events and calamities await Geralt and Ciri’s world.
