The Witcher community is once again theorising after a surprise teaser leaves them wanting more.

After relative silence on The Witcher 4 front, it’s been all hands on deck since CD Projekt Red gave an exciting update about the game.

Before anyone gets carried away, as thrilling as it is to see CDPR focused on The Witcher 4, this doesn’t mean its launch is imminent.

We still have several years ahead of us before that happens.

In the meantime, we have teasers like this one to keep our brains ticking over.

A close-up image of a coin from The Witcher 4 has fans pondering its meaning, assuming it holds any significant meaning at all.

Redditor CahirWiedzmin shared the picture, along with a question, “Could the coin from the small teaser of The Witcher 4 hold any deeper meaning?”

Curiosity has the fandom using their “Witcher senses” to try to decipher what it means.

The OP continued, “I've seen many people suggest that the coin from The Witcher 4 teaser could be related to the Curse of the Black Sun, but I can't see a clear connection.

“I've also read theories that it might be a defier's oren (though I don’t see the resemblance), and others mentioning that part of the design resembles the portal at the end of The Wild Hunt where Ciri steps through.”

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is just one of many adventures Geralt still has to face

They also remark on how we could all be “overanalysing” here.

Wise words.

Although we have no way of confirming whether any of the suggestions mentioned are close to the truth, we can spot recurring themes put forward by fans.

User bobsuruncle77 wonders if it has anything to do with the “conjunction of the spheres”, to which another fan said, “There’s a LOT of school of the lynx and second conjunction lore.”

Others simply see a coin you toss to your Witcher.

Whatever it means, it has fans digging out the red string and rehanging their cork boards.
