A new playstest on Steam will give you a taste of a new dark fantasy RPG coming to the platform soon.

There are some truly spectacular games on the horizon, many of which are role-playing games like Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree, Hades 2 and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door to name a few.

That being said, if you fancy playing some tried and true RPGs the Fallout series has you covered, check out our recommendations in the video below!

The RPG we’re talking about today though is neither of those, and can only be described as if Valheim had a baby with the works of Studio Ghibli to produce a bizarre, supernatural love child.

It’s called REKA, it looks incredible and it can be checked out on Steam right now, which I’d highly recommend you do.

The game follows a young witch who’s apprentice to the Baba Jaga, an all-powerful witch from Slavic folklore who lives in a house that walks around on two chicken legs, which is actually in the game too.

Players will have free roam of the environment around them as they learn new spells, create potions and master their abilities, even getting their own mobile home to stay in.

You’ll also meet a wide variety of villagers in need of some magical assistance, but it’ll be up to you if you want to help them out or not.

If any of that interests you, you’ll be pleased to know there’s a playtest on the way to try the game for yourself for free, all you have to do is sign up to say you’re interested.

Once invited, you’ll be able to experience the magical world of REKA for yourself, as well as provide feedback on what works and what doesn’t so the game can improve.

REKA doesn’t have an exact release date, though it’s expected to launch sometime in Q2 of 2024, so hopefully in the next couple of months with any luck.
