If you’re a Legend of Zelda fan, I heartily suggest you check out the brand new demo for Alabaster Dawn which has already secured fantastic reviews.

Developed and published by Radical Fish Games, Alabaster Dawn is an upcoming top-down action RPG.

Whilst it remains without a release date, you can - as I mentioned - sample it now courtesy of a free PC demo that’s landed on Steam.

“Break Nyx’s curse and guide humanity's rebirth in this top-down 2.5D Action RPG Demo Version from the creators of CrossCode,” the synopsis begins.

“Battle enemies with stylish combos, wield multiple divine weapons, solve intriguing puzzles and explore a changing world.”

Alabaster Dawn’s visual style certainly echoes the Zelda entries of yesteryear whilst also feeling entirely modern and fresh.

In fact, it reminds me a lot of Sea of Stars, another fantastic game I heartily recommend you play.

As the synopsis suggests, you’ll be able to partake in epic battles, tackle challenging puzzles, and uncover the mysteries and secrets of a sprawling, curious land.

“The shadow of Nyx has fallen, warping the world into a wasteland and vanishing the gods and their people. Now, Juno, the Outcast Chosen, awakens to an impossible task: bring it all back.”

The demo allows you to sample two parts of the full release.

You’ll be able to play through the beginning of the game, with all save data carrying over should you purchase the full title.

Those who try the demo will also be able to skip ahead to a second part which allows you to sample part of a dungeon.

This save data won’t be carried over given the skip.

All in all, this should take you 90 to 150 minutes to complete, with there being two melee weapons, two ranged weapons, nine enemy types, and four boss enemies to sample.

Already, the demo has secured ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews on Steam, with 99% of players enjoying their experience.

“This demo is crazy good. Also the devs are some of the most down to earth and approachable people out there,” wrote one happy player.

“More hyped for this than any other triple A game. A lot of improvements from CrossCode, which I highly recommend playing,” added another.

“Can't believe how good this is,” read one review.

“Incredibly great game. I'm really impressed with the demo. It's got everything dead on. The visuals, controls, maps, characters, story. I played the entire demo and cant't wait for the release,” said one more.

What a response. It’s there to try for free now, so jump on the hype train.
