Steam's New Freebie Hailed As 'Perfect' By Gamers

A sweet treat

We’re about to head into a chaotic time of year in the world of gaming.

As the weather cools, at least in the northern hemisphere, video game releases heat up as ‘Game of the Year’ discussions begin to arise.

The next four months are set to bring us Borderlands 4, Silent Hill f, Ghost of Yōtei, Battlefield 6, Pokémon Legends Z-A, The Outer Worlds 2, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to name just a few titles.

Ahead of what’s sure to be an overwhelming period for your backlog, I want to introduce you to a nice little freebie that may keep you occupied in the meantime.

If you’re on the lookout for something relaxing, the recently released Candy Shop Simulator: Sweet Start may be just what you’re looking for.

Developed by Games Incubator, it’s perhaps no secret that this is a game in which you run a candy shop.

I should stress that it’s not the entirety of Candy Shop Simulator, with Sweet Start essentially functioning as a free prologue.

“Designed for players who want to dive into the sweet universe of the game and get familiar with its foundations,” this prologue offers you the opportunity to concoct various creations, stock your shelves, fit out your store, and sell to customers.

Already, it’s garnered a respectable ‘Mostly Positive’ rating from players over on Steam, which is currently the only platform where you can give this one a whirl.

“It's the perfect simulator! I recommend everyone try this game and cook up all kinds of tasty treats,” wrote one reviewer.

“I never touched the other shop simulators because they were all just the same slop to me and all looked the same. Nothing special. My streamers always just played them. I tried this game because it just looked different. And luckily, it has its own style,” added another.

“Fun game would recommend to anyone who likes simulator games,” declared one happy player.

Some of these reviewers have clocked up to 10 hours in Sweet Start, so it looks as if this is a pretty generous prologue.

As for the full release of Candy Shop Simulator, that’s due to launch on 9 September.
