Steam drops thousands of freebies as Next Fest officially gets underway

Many, many freebies

Steam users have a huge list of freebies to enjoy now, as the Steam Next Fest is officially underway.

As we rapidly approach the end of 2024 there are loads of incredible games to sink your teeth into right now, like the Silent Hill 2 remake, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.

Check out the trailer for Metaphor: ReFantazio below, it’s a turn-based RPG unlike any other.

While the current games out now are well-worth your time, Steam users in particular are about to get a glimpse into the future as Steam Next Fest officially begins today, 14 October.

Steam Next Fest is an event that gives developers a chance to share what they’ve been working on over the year and what’s on the horizon, including a chance for players to try the games out, tune into livestreams and ask questions about the games.

From today to next week, 21 October, you’ll be able to play loads of new games for free as part of the festivities, and any that you like can be added to your wishlist for updates on their release date.

At the time of writing, it’s a little early in the UK as the official page for Next Fest hasn’t gone live yet, but if you want to get right into the fun as soon as the event starts, you can have a reminder sent to your account later today so as not to waste any time.

Aside from the games, there’ll likely be other freebies too, including a few digital collectables to decorate your Steam account with if that’s your cup of tea.

Keep in mind that Steam Next Fest specialises in indie games, so don’t expect many updates for the remaining AAA games set to release before the end of the year.

Steam Next Fest will run until 21 October next week, and is a great opportunity to fill out your wishlist with incredible new games.
