If you want to claim a classic and beloved RPG on Steam for free, then you’re in the right place my fellow adventurer.

With many fantasy RPGs to choose from over the years, it can be difficult for even some of the best to stand out from the crowd. However, one RPG franchise that stands out more than most is Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls.

Check out The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall trailer below!

The Elder Scrolls series has been around for decades with Bethesda launching the first entry, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, on PC in 1994. Since that time, the series has grown arguably better and certainly more popular with each new release.

Perhaps the most popular of which is 2011’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which still has a devoted and passionate fanbase to this very day with the latest single-player version of the game available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Many fans were hoping that by now we’d have The Elder Scrolls VI to enjoy, but despite being announced in 2018, fans are still waiting for that day to arrive.

Thankfully, at least, whether it’s the likes of Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls Online, there is plenty of fantasy RPG goodness to keep us busy until Bethesda finally releases the sixth numbered entry in the series.

Yet, if you wanted to play something a little more old-school, then look no further than The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall which was originally released in 1996 and is available to download today for free.

“The ancient golem Numidium, a powerful weapon once used by the great Tiber Septim to unify Tamriel, has been found in Iliac Bay,” reads the description of the game on Steam.

“In the power struggle that follows, the King of Daggerfall is murdered and his spirit haunts the kingdom. The Emperor Uriel Septim VII sends his champion to the province of High Rock to put the king’s spirit to rest and ensure that the golem does not fall into the wrong hands.”

Best of all, once you claim and download The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, as long as you have an active Steam account, this RPG is yours to keep forever. Oh, and it's also available for free via the Xbox Marketplace.
