Another weekend may have been and gone but that doesn’t mean that we can’t get stuck into an underrated gem this week.

However, with video games expecting us to sell organs on the black market to be able to afford them these days, it is PC storefronts such as Steam that are saving the day.

Fans of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag may want to check out a game on this list,

So if you fancy something new to play and don’t want to spend a single penny, then check out these eight free Steam titles.

First up is Savara, a colourful action roguelite where players will participate in festivities for the pleasure of the warrior god.

Prove your valour as you battle against monsters, pick your best weapons and make a name for yourself in history.

Fans of Uncharted and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag can try Robinson Crusoe.

This survival-RPG is set on a tropical island where players must fight to survive by exploring caves, conquering enemy bases, gathering resources and most of all, defending themselves.

With fate depending on your actions, your mettle will be tested to the limit.

Fans of old-school gaming and especially the Game Boy can check out Chalice of Highland, an epic adventure with retro Nintendo aesthetics.

Explore the world and take on six challenging dungeons in order to recover the Chalice of Miracles.

For the farming sim fanatics, there is Luma Island.

Players can travel either alone or with friends to the island where you will be able to build your own farm, master professions, collect magical items and uncover the secrets hidden throughout.

If you want to do even more farming, there is Cattle Country which is self-titled as the “only cozy cowboy adventure life sim”.

Make a home in the mountains, take on bandits, uncover their dastardly plots and of course, find the time to run your very own farm.

Paradigm Island is a “narrative RPG where surrealism meets dry wit”.

With echoes to Disco Elysium, this single player RPG will see you untangle an enigmatic mystery whilst discovering the truth about who you are.

Fans of Metroidvanias can try Verho, a dark RPG/dungeon crawler.

“In a world where revealing one's face means instant death, the mask has become a symbol of safety. Will you strive to lift the curse from the world, or will you harness its power for your ends?”

Last but certainly not least is Heart Dungeon, a 2.5D roguelite “about defeating monsters and strengthening your heart”.

Play as Leo as he invests a bit too much time into his newest video game.

However, it isn’t long before he finds himself transported into the virtual world where things he manifests become a reality.
