Steam surprises with free game that's getting excellent reviews

Try an excellent new roguelike out for free

August did indeed slip away into a moment in time, just as Taylor Swift pre-warned us it would.

Star Wars Outlaws, Thank Goodness You’re Here, Black Myth Wukong, Concord, and Visions of Mana are just a few of the titles the month brought us.

August, of course, also marks the annual holding of Gamescom.

This year’s Opening Night Live was a pretty good one with announcements including the reveals of both Mafia: The Old Country and Borderlands 4.

Amidst all of these big headliners, you may have missed the launch of a free-to-play delight that’s garnering pretty positive reviews on Steam.

PC players looking for something no-cost to play may want to check out Let’em Cook Games’ FELLCHASER, a new 2.5D action roguelike.

ICYMI: Take a look at Star Wars Outlaws in action below.

“In a hasty misstep and with a careless attempt at a new potion, you, Henric the town alchemist, led your own love toward an unconscious state. Alas upon brewing a cure, you falter and see Death before you– but your time is far from up,” the synopsis reads.

“You've stolen Death’s scythe in an attempt to cheat your fate. Now you must escape Purgatory by brewing combo-building potions and reaping hordes of creatures in this hack and slash roguelike.”

On your travels through Purgatory, you’ll have to fend off a variety of critters and creatures.

You’ll also find ingredients that you can mix into various potions that’ll aid you in your perilous travels.

Already, FELLCHASERS has garnered a very respectable score of 96% on Steam.

“This game is actually a lot of fun, hard to believe it's free,” read one to-the-point review.

“W game, give it like a couple months for new stuff to be added and it'll be an insane roguelike game (it already is but even better),” added another.

One player posed the question, “Tired of playing games where you run a shop that brews potions to make money or help cure townsfolk? Well look no further, in this game you brew potions to throw at your enemies and decimate them, while you search for more ingredients to brew even better potions to do even more decimation.”

Given that the game is totally free, there’s no harm in giving it a try. You won’t regret it by the sounds of it.
