Steam gamers in love with 'absurd' free game you've 1 final chance to claim

Show your support to the devs

Do you want the good news or the bad news? I can’t hear you, but I’m going to assume you said “good”.

Well, you can currently bag yourself a free game on Steam.

The bad news is that the game has been made free because the studio who created it is unfortunately shutting down for good, with the project to be delisted permanently when it does.

The title in question is MOUTHOLE, a pixel graphics psychological puzzler from Anything Nose Productions.

“Keep an eye on the time to ensure you make the most of your week in the psychospherical house of MOUTHOLE,” the synopsis reads.

“Solve puzzles and unravel mysteries to forge convoluted paths of discovery and exploration. Navigate quotidian existence. Crawl into your mouth. Brush your teeth?”

So yes, it’s a game set within someone’s gob, although one that leads to 10 “surreal and distinct worlds”.

ICYMI: GTA VI’s second trailer is available now.

The game promises 11 endings and “45 minutes of tooth-shattering music” amongst other interesting features - oh, and it’s got a respectable ‘Very Positive’ rating from viewers.

MOUTHOLE was previously a paid title but has, like I said, been made free to download ahead of the game’s delisting and the sad closure of Anything Nose Productions.

“Hi mouth dwellers, we're very sad to have to announce that Anything Nose is no longer able to continue operating. Our upcoming game, Diacritic, is regrettably cancelled. The store page and demo will be taken down in the near future,” the devs wrote.

“We're also sad to announce that Mouthole will soon be removed from the Steam storefront as well. Until that time comes, though, we've made Mouthole and its soundtrack available free on Steam! They'll remain free until they're taken down, so add them to your library while you can.”

They concluded, “After their removal from Steam they will remain available, for free and hopefully in perpetuity, on Itch and Bandcamp respectively. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who played and supported our work. We can't say how much we've appreciated it.”

As for when MOUTHOLE is due to be delisted, no exact date has yet been confirmed beyond that warning of “soon”, so if you do want to pick this one up, I’d act as soon as possible.
