Looking for something spooky to play this Halloween? Then I may have just the thing.
Among Ashes is an exciting new indie horror thatâs set to launch later this year, but to coincide with Steam Next Fest, a demo has landed for players to sample - and I highly encourage you to do just that.
Developed by Rat Cliff Games, Among Ashes is a first-person survival horror that boasts a very interesting premise.

âYour friend has sent you a link to a game that someone posted online,â the synopsis begins.
âBut as you play, you quickly realise that something is terribly wrong. Whatever you do ⌠keep playing.â
I bet thatâs nabbed your attention.
Take a look at Among Ashes below - if youâre brave enough.
Set in the early 2000s, Among Ashes sees you load up a game your fictional friend has found online titled Night Call.
Youâll soon realise though that Night Callâs spooks extend far beyond your boxy PC.

There are some spring-tingling secrets to discover about the gameâs creation.
Within Night Call, the game within a game, youâll explore an old manor, solving puzzles and fighting terrifying monsters.
But so too in the âreal lifeâ portion of the game will you be haunted by âdark entitiesâ that stalk players.
Youâre going to want to seek out as much information as you can on the gameâs creator.

âAmong ashes the truth remains. Uncover it, or you may not survive the night,â tease devs.
The demo lasts for between 30 and 45 minutes depending on how quickly you speed through, and it works on Steam Deck if thatâs your preferred method of play.
As I said, the free demo is available to experience now over on Steam, and is well worth giving a whirl if you want something thatâs perfectly suited to the Halloween season.
