Steam users are likely already falling in love with a soon-to-be-released RPG that looks like the best of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Ghost Of Tsushima wrapped up in one neat little title.
While I failed to hop onto the Baldur’s Gate 3 hype train when it was first announced, I just couldn’t get into it, I've since gone back to the game for some co-op and finally understand what I was missing.
So when you tell me there’s a game on the way that gives you that turn-based, RPG goodness that Baldur’s Gate 3 excels at, with the aesthetic of games like Ghost Of Tsushima or Rise Of The Ronin, you have my curiosity and attention.

The game in question is called Shadow Of The Road and it’s currently undergoing its Alpha right now, with a release date of God knows when.
The Steam description reads: “Shadow of the Road is a story-driven, turn-based RPG where feudal Japan meets magic and machines. Assemble your team from a diverse set of characters and test your skills against yōkai and steampunk contraptions. Carve your own path through an immersive story and change the fate of the Empire.”
The gameplay looks strong, with characters fighting not only other people but some horrendous-looking beasties, many of which are pure nightmare fuel.
It sounds fun enough, and who doesn’t love a Japanese setting in a video game? I mean look at how many games adopt one these days.

As said before, the game is currently undergoing some Alpha tests so if you’re interested and fancy giving it a go while it’s still in its early days, that’s how you do it.
Head over to the Steam page, request access to the playtest, and download the build that's sent over.
For everyone else, you’ll just have to wait unfortunately, as there’s currently not even a release window on the title's store page.
